The AI play retail is sleeping on: the energy behind the compute
Everyone's focused on the AI itself. Flow's point: none of it runs without enormous amounts of energy to power the compute — and the average retail investor is sleeping on the power side of the trade.
The overlooked AI trade, in Flow's view, is energy. Everybody focuses on the AI models and chips, but you need enormous amounts of electricity to actually compute all of it — and he thinks the power behind AI is being slept on by the average retail investor. The work is figuring out which companies end up leading that build-out, because somebody will.
No power, no AI
AI data centers are, at bottom, giant electricity consumers. As demand for compute explodes, so does demand for the power, grid capacity, and cooling behind it — a bottleneck that doesn't care which chatbot wins. That makes energy another pick-and-shovel angle on AI: less crowded than the chip trade, and tied to a need that only grows with usage. Flow doesn't name a winner here — the homework is identifying which companies actually lead the power build-out. Educational content, not investment advice.
