Apple's foldable iPhone: buy the phone, or the stock?

Apple just unveiled its first foldable — the iPhone Duo. Flow's reframe: the customer pays, but the investor gets paid. The real money is in new product categories, not one phone launch.

The short version

Everyone's focused on buying Apple's first foldable phone (the iPhone Duo, ~$2,000 base). Flow flips it: "the customer pays, but the investor gets paid." A new product doesn't automatically move the stock — the real money comes when Apple creates an entirely new category (like the Apple Watch in 2015 and AirPods in 2016, which he says together generate over $36 billion a year). Buy the phone, or a piece of every product Apple sells?

The phone: the iPhone Duo

Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable — starting around $2,000 for the base model and up to about $3,200 for the 2TB version, in "star white" and "night sky." It's the first time Apple has entered the foldable market. Flow's framing: worrying about whether to buy the phone is the wrong lens for an investor.

The stock, and where the money actually comes from

A new phone doesn't automatically send the stock up. "The real money," Flow says, "comes from when Apple creates an entirely new category and turns that into another revenue stream" — the Apple Watch (2015) and AirPods (2016) now generate over $36 billion a year between them (Apple's Wearables, Home & Accessories segment). The foldable could push iPhone revenue higher, but the durable driver is new categories, not a single launch. "The customer pays, but the investor gets paid."

Current update — the discount closed

At the time of this video (September 10, 2026), Apple stock was around $315, below its all-time high near $340 — which Flow read as a possible discount. Since then, AAPL has risen to a new all-time high (about $345 on September 22, 2026) heading into the iPhone Duo launch (around October 23). In other words, the "discount" he flagged has largely closed and the stock made a fresh record — a case where the read played out. Educational context, not advice.
