The AI IPOs to watch: Anthropic and OpenAI (and how to think about them)
The two biggest AI labs are heading toward the public market: Anthropic (maker of Claude) and OpenAI (maker of ChatGPT). Flow's rule is the same as any IPO — do your research and only buy for the long term if the business earns it.
The most anticipated AI IPOs are Anthropic (which makes Claude) and OpenAI (which makes ChatGPT). Flow flags both as pillars of the AI world worth watching — but his rule is the discipline, not the hype: "do your research, and if you feel it's a great investment, buy it for the long term." An IPO is a starting point to study, not a reason to buy on day one.
Anticipated, not yet tradeable
Current status: Anthropic has been reported to be targeting an IPO around late 2026 at a roughly $2 trillion valuation, while OpenAI has pushed its own listing toward 2027. Neither is public yet, IPO dates routinely slip, and early IPO prices are notoriously volatile once trading opens. So treat these the way Flow treats any new listing: understand the business and what's priced in before the excitement, remember the lock-up and expectations dynamics that hit new stocks (the same lessons as the SpaceX IPO), and only commit if the long-term case holds up on the numbers.
