Mental stop losses aren't real — set an actual stop
Flow's been there: when price goes against you, you don't want to get out — so the "mental stop" you promised yourself never triggers. Set a real one.
Mental stop losses aren't real. Flow's blunt on it because he's lived it: when price is going against you, you don't want to get out of the trade, so the stop you only kept in your head never gets honored. The fix is mechanical — set an actual stop so the decision is made before emotion takes over.
A stop you can talk yourself out of isn't a stop
In the moment, hope is louder than any promise you made yourself. "I'll get out if it hits X" quietly becomes "let me give it a little more room" — and that's how a small loss becomes an account-ender. A real, pre-placed stop removes you from the decision at the worst possible time to be making it. Decide your risk before you're in the trade, not while you're bleeding.
