Build the foundation before the Ferrari: the order most new investors get wrong
Before you touch a day-trading account, Flow says build the long-term one first. His 'Mill Plan' — automatic dollar-cost averaging plus DRIP — is the foundation. You can't jump in the Ferrari before the Toyota.
Most new investors build a day-trading account before a long-term one — like building a house with no foundation. Flow's fix: set the foundation first with his Mill Plan — automatic dollar-cost averaging plus DRIP (dividend reinvestment) — so compounding can actually work. As he puts it, "you can't jump into the Ferrari before having the Toyota first."
The Mill Plan: getting to a million on purpose
Flow calls his framework the Mill Plan — as in a million — and explains it with a food analogy: just like a meal plan decides in advance what you'll eat all week, the Mill Plan decides in advance how your money gets "to a million dollars over time." The engine underneath is compounding: "have our money make money, and then have that money make even more money."
Step 1: dollar-cost averaging
First, decide on an amount you'll invest every paycheck — say $200 — and automatically deduct it from your bank account into whatever you've chosen to hold. "With dollar cost averaging, the focus is not timing the market, it's time in the market." You keep pouring in a little, and over time it compounds.
Step 2: turn on DRIP
Next, activate DRIP — your dividend reinvestment plan. Many companies pay a dividend (Flow calls it "profit sharing") just for holding the stock. Instead of taking that cash and spending it, DRIP automatically buys you more shares, "making your snowball even bigger over time. That is where money truly compounds."
The trap: Ferrari before Toyota
Here's the mistake: "they try to build the day-trading account before they build the long-term account" — like building a house with no foundation. Set the foundation first; day trading can come later, once the base is in place. Flow's close is the whole brand in a sentence: get "better by 1% every single day."
