Pay yourself first: trim a little lifestyle, fund the market
The beginner mistake is spending every dollar on lifestyle before investing any. Flow's fix: trim a little, put that capital to work, and circle back to the lifestyle once it's grown.
The mistake is paying for every lifestyle habit before you ever pay the market. Flow's fix: eat out a little less, cut back a habit or two, and redirect that capital into investments. Let it grow, and you can circle back to the lifestyle spending later — funded by the growth. The principle is old and it works: pay yourself first.
Pay yourself before your habits
Most people invest what's left after they've spent — which is usually nothing. Flipping the order is the whole move: skim a bit off discretionary spending first, invest it, and live on the rest. You're not banning fun forever; you're front-loading your future self, then letting compounding buy back the lifestyle with interest. Small, boring trims done consistently are how beginners find money to invest they swore they didn't have.
