How millionaires are made: the compounding snowball
Investing isn't about next Tuesday — it's about what happens over years. Flow uses Buffett and Munger's snowball to explain the one force that quietly makes millionaires: compounding.
Investing "ain't really about what happens to your money next Tuesday — it's about what can happen over years." The engine is compounding. Flow borrows Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger's image: a small snowball at the top of a long hill with wet snow. Start it rolling, and each turn picks up more — until the tiny start becomes something huge.
The snowball
"At first your snowball, it ain't nothing — it's tiny," Flow says. "But when you keep rolling it, it picks up a little more snow, and now the ball becomes bigger. So the next time you roll it, it picks up even more." That's compounding: your money makes money, and then that money makes money too. Small and boring at first, powerful over years.
